Baptism
We look forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils after the summer break. If your child has not yet been baptised, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. This invitation also extends to parents of children in Primary 1, 2 and Primary 3. The parish is happy to support you in making arrangements for your child’s baptism.
Sacrament of Confirmation
The Archbishop’s Office has released the Confirmation Schedule for the 2025–2026 school year.
Pupils in Primary 7 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of the Rosary, and St George’s Primary Schools will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 26th February 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Parents of pupils attending other schools who are due to be Confirmed are kindly asked to get in touch.
First Holy Communion - May 2024
It's been a truly wonderful time in our parish as we celebrated the First Holy Communion of 49 children during May.
It has been a joyful and faith-filled journey for all involved. Huge heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped prepare the children for this special sacrament – their families at home, the dedicated staff and teachers in our schools, our Parish Administrator and our team of parish catechists. Your support, guidance, and prayerful encouragement have made this time so meaningful.

Christian Initiation
Baptism: Baptism is always the first Sacrament. To arrange for the baptism of a child, see Fr. Joe at Sunday Mass. Baptisms take place on a Saturday at 1 pm only. Adults seeking baptism or indeed full communion with the Catholic Church, click here for more information. The process by which adults become members of the Church is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Anyone who may be interested in finding out more, please see Fr. Joe. Confirmation: Confirmation is a strengthening of what we have received in baptism. Children will be confirmed in Primary 7 from now on. It is not uncommon for adults to have missed out on the sacrament of Confirmation. If you find yourself in this situation, it is easily rectified. Please see Fr. David for more information! Eucharist: The Eucharist completes Christian Initiation. It is the source and summit of the Christian life. Children would normally celebrate First Communion during the Easter Season of Primary 4 and preparation is made by parish, home and school. Sacraments of healing Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing. We should never be afraid of approaching this sacrament of healing, because that's exactly what it is! We celebrate our unity as the People of God in the Eucharist. Division of that unity takes place through our sin. To be cleansed of that sin, we celebrate Reconciliation or Confession to be cleansed of our sins. This is a necessary part of Christian life, to confess our sins to a priest and experience the healing of forgiveness. Reconciliation is one of those sacraments we can repeat and should do regularly. Check out the times of celebration on this website. Children celebrate the Sacrament ahead of Confirmation and First Communion so that they are prepared for the other Sacraments. This takes place during Lent in Primary 3. Sacrament of the sick: "Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church. And let the priests come and lay hands on them and anoint them in the name of the Lord. And let the prayer of faith save the sick person. And if they have committed any sins, let their sins be forgiven." Sometimes people ask for 'last rites'! The Sacrament of the Sick is for those who are sick. We celebrate the sacraments for the living. The Sacrament of the Sick is for those who are ill, suffering, about to undergo surgery, those with terminal illness and many more. It's a Sacrament which may be repeated if a person's illness becomes more severe or another illness takes over. If in doubt, ask about the Sacrament of Anointing the Sick. Sacraments at the service of communion Marriage: Marriage preparation in the Archdiocese of Glasgow is obligatory. There are regular meetings in our parish for those preparing for Marriage. At least six months notice is required in order to prepare couples for Marriage. Ordination: If you feel God is calling you to ordained ministry, please speak with Fr. Joe.
